Engine Cooling Systems
Fully integrated engine cooling systems combine mixed flow fans with aluminium heat exchanger packages to service military vehicle engines from 150kW to 1,125kW, handling transmission, hydraulic, fuel, charge air, and A/C thermal loads in a single architecture. Our fans allow bulky components to sit on the discharge side without obstructing airflow a flexibility not generally available with other fan types. Proven across wheeled (4×4/6×6/8×8) and tracked armoured vehicles, suited to both new builds and re-engining projects.

AMETEK Airtechnology designs and manufactures high-performance engine cooling systems for military vehicles worldwide, supporting both wheeled (4×4, 6×6, 8×8) and tracked armoured vehicles operating from deserts to high-altitude regions.
Our high-performance mixed flow engine cooling fans, paired with rugged aluminium heat exchanger packages, service military vehicle engines from 150kW to 1,125kW (200hp to 1,500hp) — along with the other heat loads that typically sit within the remit of an engine cooling system, including transmission, transfer case, and hydraulic oil, fuel cooling, and pneumatic air cooling.
Extensive testing and development has shown the advantage of an engineered systems approach over selecting individual components in isolation. For example, our fans allow bulky components to be arranged on the discharge side of the cooling pack without obstructing airflow — a capability not generally available with other fan types. That flexibility around air intake and discharge orientation matters most in extreme conditions of high heat load and limited space, and it holds just as true for new vehicle designs as it does for re-engining and upgrade projects, where an inflexible existing design envelope makes component optimisation critical.

Each system is engineered as a complete thermal management solution, not just an engine radiator. Depending on the platform, that can include:

Our systems are built to excel in high ambient temperatures and high-altitude operation, dusty, sandy, and contaminated environments, and severe shock and vibration — and our robust, modular solutions are fully customisable for easy upgrades as operational requirements evolve.
Smart Technology
To maximise efficiency and reliability, our systems feature hydraulic or electric fan drive with dynamic, variable speed control; CAN Bus (J1939) compatibility for seamless vehicle integration; real-time temperature, pressure, and level sensing; and intelligent thermal management for improved fuel efficiency and reduced wear.
Because we design both the fan and the heat exchanger in-house, we can maximise cooling pack performance for a given volume, or minimise volume for a given performance — a level of optimisation not always available when fans and heat exchangers are sourced separately.
