CBRN Protection Systems
CBRN filtration systems for military vehicles, available as blow-through or draw-through configurations, and as stand-alone units or combined with an Air Conditioning System. An integrated inertial separator (cyclone) removes sand, dust, and heavy particles before air reaches the composite CBRN filter, extending filter life. Three draw-through systems AC143, AC151, and AC154 cover roof-hatch, side-hatch, and length-access filter configurations respectively.

Product Details
As a leading authority in the design and integration of CBRN filtration systems, AMETEK Airtechnology offers a range of systems suitable for military vehicle applications, using a range of different filter types. These systems can be stand-alone, or combined with an Air Conditioning System, to provide a clean and controlled environment for occupants.
We offer both CBRN blow-through and CBRN draw-through systems, giving versatile, reliable solutions across different vehicle layouts and access requirements. Both approaches are designed to provide a clean, controlled environment that enhances safety and operational efficiency in challenging conditions.
Blow-Through Systems
Ambient air enters from outside the vehicle through a suitable inlet and passes through a ventilation fan first. An inertial separator (cyclone) then removes sand, dust, and heavy particles, discharging them overboard, before the air passes through a composite CBRN filter and is discharged as cleaned, filtered air into the occupied space.
Draw-Through Systems
Ambient air enters through a suitable inlet and passes through the inertial separator (cyclone) first, where sand, dust, and heavy particles are removed by a scavenge fan and discharged overboard. The air then passes through the composite CBRN filter before the ventilation fan draws it through and discharges it into the vehicle.
We currently offer three draw-through systems, each suited to a different vehicle access configuration:
- AC143 - designed for vehicles where access is only available through a roof hatch (though it works equally well with a side hatch). The CBRN system is attached to the hatch itself, so opening the hatch lifts the CBRN pack out of the vehicle for filter changes. The hatch only needs to open around 30° to gain filter-change access, though opening it typically needs to be assisted to balance the weight of the attached system. It includes an inertial separator, with scavenge air provided by an impeller sharing a common motor drive shaft with the Main Fan impeller the Main Fan draws air through the inertial separator and CBRN filter before discharging it into the vehicle.
- AC151 - designed for vehicles that provide access through a hatch in the side of the vehicle hull, using the same inertial separator and scavenge/main fan assembly as the AC143. It uses the AMETEK AC161 variant of the UK No.1 Mk. 4 Composite CBRN Filter, approved by the UK CBRN Authority at Dstl Porton Down.
- AC154 - the filter is accessible along its length rather than from the end, as with the AC143 and AC151. This allows the filter to be configured for removal from either a side or roof hatch, using the same inertial separator and scavenge/main fan assembly as the AC151.
